Workshops Catch Up - What we've been up to.

Autumn was a period of resettling and review after a great Summer on the road. 

Winter is a rejuvenating time for me... learning new crafts and making plans for the future. Booking festivals for Summer 2014 and local workshops up until March 2015.

Adult Art Classes at Kettering Park Hotel & Spa

Adult art classes begin this November.  You will find us in the Spa Studio http://spa-and-fitness.co.uk/locations/kettering/ at Kettering Park Hotel.

The introductory offer sessions will run for 6 weeks on Tuesday morning 10-12 and Wednesday afternoon 12.30-2.30 to learn drawing and painting.

Disney Art Inspiration February

February whizzed by in a blur! We had a taste of Summer in Florida and was able to research ideas for our children's festival cafe, if you want great service it is the place to go.  

The Disney parades were inspirational and I came away with so many ideas for future art workshops.

Disney's It's a Small World was designed by artist Mary Blair, and her designs have inspired me to add my interpretation of her designs to the cafe tents.

Travelling gave me time to doodle in my notebook...

...and has inspired a new series of paintings called Wild Women. More news on these very soon.

January Artist - Hundertwasser

That moment when you are happily going along and suddenly WOW, you discover an artist that blows your mind. One that has been there your whole life and only NOW you have discovered them.

Hundertwasser has done that this month.

Trees on the rooftops.

Beautiful architecture.

We explored hot and cold colours to create the first step of our own Hundertwasser art pieces.

 

Who couldn't love an artist who had amazing vision and changed his name to

Friedensreich Regentagand Dunkelbunt Hundertwasser

"Peace-Kingdom Rainy Day Darkly Multi-coloured Hundred-Water"

Just need to decide on a new name for myself - What about Indigo Igo?

Artists teaching the Arts - Creative Collaboration Em and I!

Me and Em started our Saturday creativity workshops together back in 2010, as we are both really passionate about creative learning.

I am really pleased that the very talented Emmaline Shaw is now able to bring her own creative skills to schools, through our workshops, as a drama and creative literacy specialist.   

So now we offer drama and creative literacy to our arts workshops.

Just so you know *We are excitedly jumping about shouting in the voice of Miranda's mum "Such fun!"*

We want children to be as excited about the arts as we are.  We want them to be inspired to start creating art, poetry or drama for themselves.

So we develop bespoke workshops, we can look at your curriculum and create some great art and drama or creative writing, which might link to that term's subject learning in some way.  Or not... it doesn't have to, it could just be for creativity's sake. 

Igo Eco Arts New Studio and Big Draw Event

Our new studio officially opened today with a Big Draw event! It was also Farmer's Market Day, Brownies coffee morning and St Mary's Craft Fair in our small town, Burton Latimer.

We are in The Paddocks car park, appropriately behind the recycling bins, and next to The Sugar Barn.

Workshops are getting booked up for November and we'll have Yarn & Glue (bring your personal project) meet up on Thursday afternoons 1-3pm.

French classes for children start for 4 years + on Thursday 3.30-4.00pm with Chrystelle. There's also a pre-school session on Friday mornings 10-10.30am.

Arty Parties can be booked for your children or group, or what about a girl's night out? Learn a new craft then pop over to Vivo or The Shaad for dinner?!

Look out for our drop-ins, competitions and events and let us know if you'd like to exhibit your own arts, crafts and creations.

Also calling all creatives... If you have a skill to share please let us know and we can support you in running a workshop in our town's very own arts studio/gallery space.

We have some very talented people locally, lets shout about it.
